Thanks for Nothing, Shrub

It will be with nausea and a heavy heart that we will again sit through a State of the Union address from our cherished leader. State of the union- but will he mention the state of the planet? And our role in it's indisputable demise? Or perhaps World War III renders global warming a tad bit irrelevant? The bitches of industry have of course continued their crusade to discredit every voice of reason not on their payroll. Recently I even read about the claim that environmentalists are 'fabricating' climate chaos to alarm the public because greenthink is a multi million dollar industry that extorts money via hippie hysterics. Thats right folks, perhaps if the Sierra Club and Greenpeace can convince you to be concerned, you might send them a donation that could land them in PAC heaven... those shrewd bastards! Concocting a hurricane too! One wonders how they pay the bills with such theatrical overtures! What else have these green granolas come up with? Stats and sources: (continued)

Look at what these environmentalist groups are claiming just to frighten you!

Rank of 2005 as hottest year on record (tied with 1998), according to NASA.

100% Increase in intensity and duration of hurricanes and tropical storms
since the 1970's, according to a 2005 MIT study.

100 Billion: Estimate of damage caused by
hurricanes hitting the U.S. coast in 2005
alone, according to the National Climatic Data Center.

2030: Year by which Glacier National Park will have no glaciers left, according to the U.S. Geological Survey predictions.

400,000 Square miles of Arctic sea ice that have melted in the last 30 years (roughly the size of Texas), threatening polar bear habitats and further accelerating global warming worldwide, according to the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment.

15%-37%: Amount of plant and animal species that global warming could wipe out by 2050.

1: Rank of the United States as global warming polluter
compared to other large nations.

6: Number of former U.S. Environmental Protection Agency leaders who say the U.S. is not doing enough to fight global warming.

0: Number of bills passed by Congress to cut global
warming pollution.

0: Number of times President Bush has mentioned the words "global warming," or "climate change" in previous State of the Union addresses.

The phrase 'record profits' should ring through our ears every time we hit the pump...
(Via Friends of The Earth)
"Today oil giant ExxonMobil will announce its record-breaking profits for 2005 to the public -- roughly $36 billion! That is the largest profit ever recorded by any corporation in America!

In response, the ExxposeExxon.com campaign has created a short, funny video in Exxon’s honor. Click the link below to check it out: http://www.foe.org/exxon/movie.html (and don't forget to turn on your speakers!)
The movie is humorous, but ExxonMobil’s policies are not. Sadly, ExxonMobil’s profits have come at a huge cost -- both to consumers like you and me and to our environment. ExxonMobil uses its billions to sabotage efforts to slow global warming and to lobby Congress in support of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and off of America’s majestic coasts. Instead, ExxonMobil should invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy, such as wind and solar power."

Fuckwads.

Not only has bush not mentioned "global warming," or "climate change" - They don't want anyone else mentioning it either.

Scientist James E. Hansen, longtime director of the agency's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, said the administration has tried to censor his remarks about the issue. (Sunday NY Times)

Damn, that's great. Lily where did you hear the term "Greenthink"? Is it yours? Can I use it?

"Dude," nobody in the administration can mention global warming all data on this non-issue is classified.

Well thats what is so frustrating, the way facts are suppressed, nobody cares about the truth. We talk about 'transparency' and our desire to have actions committed in daylight under the scrutiny of the people but these people are beyond that, they deliberately hide and distort. Not a matter of just keeping us in the dark but taking away the lightbulbs as well and expecting us to share a few sporadic candles before they too are snuffed. Thats the way I see it.
They suppressed expert testimony with 9-11 and other 'inquiry' commissions and will suppress truth on global warming as well. Its what they DO. Wanna be rich? Learn to dispute reality and sell your services to THE MAN.

Even the elected officials don't know the difference, I will never forget when a certain Senator told me by name that my accusation of baseless numbers were silly because the numbers he used came from 'an independent research team'. We learned this team was paid of course by BIG OIL and they hid behind this bogus 'research' firm but really they were LIE SPINNERS!They are very slick and know we 'average folk' don't have the time to sniff around. Well- some of us make the time.

I do not know when I started to use greenthink, but I guess I just don't have a better word to describe the idea. Sadly, I am forced to misuse or outright make up words on a weekly basis to convey the idiocy I see. Its probably used out there, must have come from someplace I would guess! We learn about 'groupthink' with propaganda, and so I just force the hybrid!

Sit through it? You can count me out. I much prefer to blog about the pontificating on it the day after, than the actual speech itself. Unlike Bush, the pontificators actually have something to say worth listening to.

The SOTU will be nothing but a bunch of self-congratulatory pats on the back for Bush and his people, with no basis in reality. Bush will not mention the lessons we learned from Katrina because he has learned nothing from it.There will be the attempt to justify every crime that he and his administration has committed, from the treason of outing Valerie Plame, to the atrocities of torture, to the illegal spying on American citizens by invoking the war on terror and 9/11. And, if he has time, he may start the case for the invasion of Iran.
Alternative energy? Environmental concerns? It's all about the Benjamins.

Besides just because it's Michigan in January and it's raining and not snowing, doesn't mean that there's global warming, does it?

I dunno about you guys, but I'm buting popcorn and sodas to watch Bush speak. I'm a big fan of fiction so you know this is gonna be entertaining

Well Enigma and I are going to throw marshallows...and maybe cry.

I'm watching SG1 on SciFi. I never watch Bush. I know what he'll say anyhow.

Gotta go. Zionists.

Maybe we could organize a national SOTU barf-a-thon.

Every tree-hugger "report" I've ever read was, like the Constitution, just a piece of paper. Did you know that paper spontaneously bursts into flame at 451 degrees? I read that somewhere. Probably in a book...printed, again, on PAPER!!!

Not sure where I'm going with this, other than to say, "America: Love It or Leave It (Preferably Before the Ice Cap Melts, Because, You Know, It'll be Kinda Wet After That.)"

Damn, that's a long bumper sticker.

If we can get thru a State of the Onion without being told 'people got to understand', or 'congress got to understand' I will be proud of teleprompters and speechwriters.

We will be told we are at war, and that in wartime the President has responsibilities blah blah blah.

We will be told of the bill-yons pledged to 'rebuild' New Owleans, and how great it is that Bourbon Street is alive and well.

We'll be spanked on the hand again for not embracing the 'ownership society', and told that the problems are being worked out of the prescription drug plan.

And we are going to be told there's a new program to help college students.

And it's still all the same old crap.

If he was an honest man, his speech would be simple.

If you can't afford it, you don't get it.

If you are sick, you should die.

If you need an education, you got to pay.

And if you ever been on 'welfare', you owe.

But we are bringing a better way of like to the Iraqis, because they should have Democracy like we do at home.

Bush believes people who are born in debt should stay there. Creates a good labor force.

He isn't racist...he thinks all poor people deserve to be so, because he believes he was annointed not to be so. No rise by merit here. Only way out of the ghetto is through deceit, and willingness to sell your mom for a dime. Then you qualify to run (manage) the rest of the unwashed.

Don't tell me that Bush isn't racist...just because Condi is a member of the family. Ask yourself this: When is the last time our Sec of State talked to a person of color outside of the rest of the Republican elite? I'm white, and I am ashamed. I cannot call her sister.

There will always be hope...Dr. King had a dream. We need to work on the PLAN.

They just can't say 'NO' to planetary destruction, can they? (Love your new Nancy pic! It's so heartwarming.)

I propose the SOTU Drinking game.
Everytime Bush mentions 9/11, take a shot.
Everytime Bush mentions the war on terror, take a shot.
Everytime Bush talks about the need to continue the Patriot act, down a beer.
Everytime he smirks, take a shot.
Everytime he mentions democracy working, take a shot.
Everytime he licks his lips, drink a beer.
And finally, anytime he mentions global warming or protecting the planet, fire up a big fat doobie and smoke it until he admits he lied about our reasons to go to Iraq.

Lily,
Why would the President of the United States of America mention such a rediculously pregnant conspiracy theory like..
what was that again?
O, yea- Climate change.

There are terrorists to fight and kill first, not too mention all that oil that belongs to True Bible Believing Christians.

As supported by God's Holy and divinely inspired Book..ah, somewhere.
You're talking like a heathen, and I'll have to report you to RK.
Don't make me shun you.
