The Great Goonless Gonzo

Gonzo addressed the torture controversy in remarks made in London: "The United States has always been and remains a great defender of human rights and the rule of law," Gonzales said. "I regret that there has been concern or confusion about our commitment to the rule of law."

But during his remarks, the audience erupted into unsuppressable fits of laughter. Soon, the laughter could be heard all through the international community. A plane even paused its mid-air showing of "Fifty First Dates" en route to Western Europe because the laughter of detainees, echoing through the freight cabin, began to disturb the other passengers...

But...Fifty First Dates...what a winner. "Every day I wake up in the same cell in Kerblakistan and don't know how I got here."

I wonder if they actually believe it when they say stuff like that, or if they are just doing it to be dicks

yeah that's really funny.... except i just did a post on my blog about how these gitmo terrorists don't want to leave.
But i'm sure they're being tortured and everything too, so have fun with that.

I'm sure you can ask them and they will answer whatever you want them to answer!

Thats the beauty of propaganda. Its indisputable accuracy. Attention to details.

some probably dont want to leave, because the water boarding and forced feeding they get there is nothing compared to what they'll get back in Jordan, or the UAE, or Saudi Arabia. But back to topic.. yea Gonzo is a funny little guy.. he's always Keeeding. To bad Harriet Myers doesnt understand that she really isnt the Whitehouse councel.

I wonder what winger fans of 24, who love to cite the show in defense of things like torture and whatever else they need justified, think of the fact that the show's president has been exposed as a scared little shit under the influence of a vice president who exaggerates threat assessments and advocates tossing aside the Constitution for convenience's sake?

From the traitorous activities of presidential advisors to the plans by an evil vice president to unnecessarily launch martial law and ignore Congress in the process, (But we won't call it Marial Law) the links to the current administration are unmistakable, and the implicit criticism clear.

The short Abu Gonzales is "Yes, we do torture prisoners, BUT we just don't call it torture." You have a problem with that!

Aw, torture? Compulsory submission via physical compliance? Whats the difference?

Rhino, how did you get your head up your ass with that big horn on your nose?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Generally speaking I avoid citing '24' in any arguments. I'm a liberal and I love the show, and am content because 24 takes place in a world where only evil people are tortured, and Jack always makes the right decisions. Needless to say, we do not live in such a world.

How do you know they are all terrorists? Or they are all even associated with Al Qaieda/Talaban/Saddam? If they ARE all terrorists, why not try them, convict them, and punish them? Why all the secrecy? What gives?

I never lost cuz I'm the boss
I never will cuz I'm still
the champion, chief one, won't lose until--
I choose

which I won't cuz I don't retreat
I'll run you over like a truck and leave you dead in the street

The minute they see me, fear me
I'm the epitome-a public enemy
Used, abused, without clues
I refused to blow a fuse
They even had it on the news
Don't believe the hype
