Has The Chimp Gone Mad?

I'm watching Lou Dobbs, shaking my head. I must turn to the blog community. What the hell is going through his mind? Is he being blackmailed or something? Somebody, somebody please explain to me why Chimp is going to the mat with this port deal? It doesn't even make sense to the name brand asshole, let alone the generics.

I was reading at Delilah Boyd it's because of a tie to the Carlyle Group which has a stake in this. Which is surprising only because it's not Halliburton this time. Fucking criminals.

Lou Dobbs covers how CNN won't control Lou Dobbs... they've gotten bold now that the tides are turning. I don't recall all this 'challenge' afoot before.

I'm against this deal but it's wrong for people to say that it involves port security. The UAE WILL MANAGE the ports (not a good idea) but we will still be in charge of Security. Port security is still open to question about how well we support and equip our Coast Guard.

Basically, the UAE is about as pro-US as governments get in Middle East. If the US takes pot-shots at them and undermines their business deals, then it calls into question why any government there would ever be pro-US, if there are no benefits. Bush might need this deal to go through to avoid alienating the few friends he has in the region as well as pass out some favors before the run-up to the Iran mal-adventure.

Why can't an American company run the management of those six ports. Because this is also a story of cronyism. Bush is closer to the royal families of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the big oil businessmen of Dubai than he is to just about any American family unless it's Halliburton which seems overloaded with contracts.

Ok, trying again.....

We owe UAE big time for their support.

This may be a payoff for their help in our wars of aggression against their Muslim brothers.

This may have been promised a few years ago to ensure our military the rights to put installations and command and control centers there.

Big cash payoff to Bush and Co. as well, one would imagine.

Maybe Bush is being blackmailed about the fact that the Trade Center was an inside job, thats why they repressed the fucking testimony, experts, lied, deceived, and thats why Bush owes them big time. There's no reason to go against everyone..even strong republicans,on this sudden concern about their opinions..force people in an election year to make these choices about loyal to pres or care what people think.if Bush was really concerned like Bill Maher said tonight he would stop the torture and other bullshit that goes on that hurts our credibility and relationships.

Maybe he needs insiders in place for when he decides they need another Pearl Harbor to push their agenda of world domination before the fucking oil runs out. The evidence that there was something screwy about WTC is undeniable by scientists who know everything about how fast steel melts, at what temperature, how quickly those floors would fall...there were demolitions and we have to hide it so we must let these royal families and buddies do us in the you know what. And that is my opinion, you will say I am a looney conspiracy person. Because you will not beelive the facts that are not based on propaganda but on science. if theyc an ignore global warming and satellite pictures even shot its true, they will lie about anything.when you say bush would not kill his own people,
consider that he is killing a planet full of people, thousands of people, and there is no remorse. Don;t let your false beleifs about his consceince and sorrow make you think they are not capable. They are. now he has to pay up.

The issue is not whether we can trust the UAE, this company or their hiring process (and yes, it is a matter of security-- our security is predicated on the assumption that people may try to sneak something by, but not that the people working there are themselves what is being 'snuck' by.)

The issue is whether we can trust Bush when he says, 'trust us.' He has a long track record of lying, but one in particular makes it clear that this administration's word is not good enough to allow Congress to 'trust' him-- that in particular being the rationale for the Iraq war.

Hence Congress wants to examine this a bit more.

Bush is pushing it and refusing to bend because that is the only way he knows how to govern.

I've read all of the comments, but I'm still unconvinced and agree with Lily. Why go to the mat over this one. Maybe Eli's right that Bush doesn't know how to govern any other way.

Tempest in a teapot.

Hey, don't let what I am about to say ruffle your knickers but did you know that China is already running some of our ports along the West Coast. Now I could nver see the United States in a confrontation with the Chinese. Furthermore, I could never see the Chinese taking advantage of a situation like knowing all about our ports along the west coast. Sweet deal huh? Don't believe me go to CBS news.

So why get all so worked up over Dubai operating our ports on the East Coast? What is stunning to me is that we do not seem to be able to do a lot for ourselves anymore. Whats up with that?

I'd really be shocked and distraught about all of this if it made a difference. What I am saying is why worry about the security of our ports when we already have been told Bush and his administration have done a really shitty job improving our security since 9-11. Yeah the 9-11 commission told us that and the numbers of Ds and Fs they have issued on various parts of what they are doing. Maybe we can get the Chinese to come in and protect us.

Oh and you gotta love the darlings. You don't think that after the scathing report the 9-11 Commission issued along with its report card that our governmental overseers would step up to the plate and hold a hearing and find out what really needs to be done and make it happen do you. That would be just too fucking much to ask. No but dickwads like Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Peter T. King can grandstand on this issue but do nothing to ensure adequate security for our nuclear plants, our chemical plants, our vital infrastructure and on, and on, and on. We got problems a hell of a lot bigger than Dubai operating our ports along the east coast.

I think it's about money, and the Carlyle Group. Lew left a link on my site and, well.. it speaks for itself.

I think there's a little truth in everything said here. We need a place to launch our invasion of Iran from, a big payoff to Bush's family fortunes, and Bush is so used to having everything rubber stamped that he won't stand for any dissension.
And I think the security issue is not a problem, as long as the US runs the security and not a foreign run country, as on 9/11 when all the airports where the hijacked flights took off from were run by the same foreign owned company.

Anonymous said...

I say let them do security for the White House for a while..see if they let that fly. We can outsource torture, outsource security, is he suggesting there are no companies that can handle it? What about the idea of having jobs for Americans? Even if you set aside the debate on trust?

Yukkione said...

I agree at first look security is not the real issue. But, it would only take one Jihad/Al Quida sympathiser in that company, at a port, to set a whole new disaster in motion. We should stand against this because no state owned company should own any national asset of this country.

Or at the very least, let them own Disney or some shit instead. Appease them with control of Radio City Music Hall. Or give them the Boston Red Sox to manage.

I second them doing security for Bubble Boy.

Yup. let them have at it.
